I got a call from Anna's teacher today that Anna had drawn on herself with permanent marker during an activity in class. It's interesting because I've talked to Anna about the permanent nature of permanent markers many times before, and I've let her use permanent markers probably dozens of times without this result. But then again, I wouldn't have brought out permanent markers when many kids are present, I was nervous letting just Victor and Anna use them together.
When I arrived at the daycare to pick up Victor and Anna, Anna was apparently in the washroom having another go at washing it off. Hopefully the lesson is learned. Wonder how long it will take to wear off?
After Beavers Anna was practicing on her bike. She's starting to understand how to take corners. I was asking her if she was ready to go again (she still needs my help to start going) when she said, “Dad, there's a raccoon!”
And indeed there was a raccoon, sauntering by on the ground following the cinderblock wall of the back neighbour's garage. It occurred to me as it headed up the utility pole that I should pull out my phone and capture some pictures.
I've seen raccoons heading up this pole a few times before. I've also seen a raccoon around our garbage area, a raccoon coming up the street in front yards on garbage day (presumably investigating the garbage that's been left out), a raccoon going from the street to the back yard via the driveway, a couple of raccoons at the same time on top of the neighbours garage, and during the winter daily raccoon tracks in the snow. The city is a perfectly comfortable habitat for them.
I think she lives in this building, which is has been unused (by humans) since before we moved here. It might be the same raccoon that once had her litter in the ceiling of our mudroom.
